29 January 2009 CA-NEWS (TJ) – The “Mountain Societies development Support Programme” (MSDSP) launched by Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in Gorno Badakhshan in 2008, implemented projects worth over $711 thousand. Last year 16 projects in school reconstruction and renovation worth $275 thousand, and 28 projects in provision of fresh and irrigation water to villages worth $ 423 thousand were implemented, informed Mirzo Mirzoev, the head of the regional MSDSP office. In particular, construction of the 6 km channel and small hydroelectric power station with capacity of 100 kW / h in Rushan area were completed. The cost of the mini-hydroelectric power station amounted to $13 thousand. MSDSP engineering projects are financed by (Swedish International Development Agency). In addition to engineering department, other departments of MSDSP, such as department of natural resource management, business development department and department of local government implement various projects in Gorno Badakhshan. MSDSP of the Aga Khan foundation implements various projects in other regions of Tajikistan as well.
